About the project
Tidal Notes is a fictional coastal journal for people who feel most at home beside the water. The concept brings together shoreline stories, quiet observations, and places to return to when everyday life moves too quickly. Its identity takes its cues from rolling waves, pale sand, and the changing light along the coast.
The design uses generous white space, clear typography, and a compact symbol to give the photography room to breathe. Deep ocean tones sit beside soft neutral backgrounds, creating a visual rhythm that feels open and relaxed. Short captions add context without competing with the images.
The website is organised around visual stories and an adaptable image gallery. A simple navigation structure lets readers move naturally between destinations, while responsive layouts preserve the atmosphere on smaller screens.
Created as sample portfolio content, this project explores art direction, visual identity, and editorial web design. The photographs are freely licensed, and the placeholder branding can be replaced with the work of a real studio or independent designer.
